Monitoring

A monitoring system introduced in 2022 supports the implementation of the Sustainable Development Strategy. It collects and provides information on the implementation status of a measure (implementation monitoring) and the effectiveness of a measure (effectiveness monitoring).

Sustainable Development Report

The Sustainable Development Report from 2023 presents the status quo regarding the sustainable development in the city of Herne. The report is part of the “Berichtsrahmen Nachhaltige Kommune (BNK)” project in collaboration with the SKEW. It supports the city of Herne in making the progress of its own sustainable actions measurable and manageable. The reporting framework consists of nine steering criteria and nine municipal fields of action. While the steering criteria encompass strategic and organizational approaches, the fields of action address specific areas of sustainable development at the municipal level. The fields of action are:

Quantitative reporting on indicators complements the qualitative reporting on the aspects.

Sustainability Dashboard

The sustainability dashboard visualizes the indicators listed in the City of Herne’s Sustainable Development Report. The indicators will be continuously adapted as the process continues. The dashboard is part of the project “Dashboard and Monitoring for Municipal Sustainability Strategies (DashKon)”.
